So we were told Bentley had elevated IRT's(?) so they did genetics to see "if" he had CF. His genetics came back that he forsure had at least one of the two genes so today he was tested for the other one. After having to meet with the "team" they recieved the results via fax.....negative!!! It was a waste of time to sit with their "team" but I guess. a good waste of time. On to the next hurdle.....we went and seen the surgeon, he too said Bentley looks great! We go back in a week. This little boy has had tons of prayers and well wishes, and he is truly OUR miricle.

1 month old!!!
Well, it's been a crazy few weeks. Everyone is home! Thankfully no one is in the hospital. But we have been back, Bentley has some (about 7) red adhesion's on his omphalocele so we called the surgeon, they said to go to emerg at the Children's so off we went. They took Bentley without a wait and 2 residents and Dr.Wong came within about 10 minutes. To their surprise and to our relief what could have been "rupture" turned out to be a fungal infection. So just some more cream added to his daily dressing changes. Then our family DR. called and said she wanted to meet Bentley so we took him for a "visit" or so we thought. She then told us that he had tested positive for one of the genes for Cystic Fibrosis. We got a call yesterday that the further testing will be done on January 26th and we will get the results that same day at 4pm. So with that we wait, hoping for the best. Apparently a lot (1in 25) of people are "carriers" so it might not be a big deal but for now of course we worry. Bentley is such a good baby. Bergen has been full of vinegar but always nice to his baby brother & Brooklyn and Bailey are also doing great amongst all the stress and running around. We are so thankful for our families and friends help. Thanks Grandma Chris for coming back up to help~ We loved having you. We will be back at the Children's for our weekly appointment on Monday hopefully to get no more unexpected news.

The Swap
Bentley was released from the Children's for good today, but as my title implies, another family member was admitted. My mom was admitted to Rockyview hospital in Calgary due to what we think is complications from the C-Section. Okotoks Home Care will be following up with Bentley, and we will need to meet up with his surgeons on a regular basis.

MIRACLE BABY
Can you believe it will be 3 weeks tomorrow~ and we have been told Bentley will be discharged in the morning. (Which means by supper, or the end of the week~lol) His tummy is healing as it should and they switched him to a "preemie" formula in the breast milk and he is now gaining weight~150g overnight!! All his tubes are gone and he looks like a perfect bundle. (except his little tummy) we can't thank everyone enough for all the help~we are sure lucky. So Thanks again, and we will keep you posted as anything changes but for now~ no news will be good news.

Happy New Year
So far 2011 is great!!! New Year's Eve we had a day pass to take Bentley home~ it was so nice to be home. I asked Chris what he thought they would do if we just didn't go back? He didn't want to find out so we went back at 9pm. But the break was well needed. New Years Day~ we got an overnight pass, so as I type this, Chris is feeding Bentley a bottle, and the other kids are playing with Bergen. We need to be back by 8 or 9 in morning so the nurses can weigh him~ he still hasn't gained ANY weight. Today was the first day we started adding calorie powder to his milk so hopefully tomorrow he will have gained something. He hasn't used his NG tube for anything in two full days ~ so that too may be a thing of the past quickly. What a strong little man we have, he has surprised us over and over. Hope to be home soon.
